TASANOC Hosts Successful GAPS Training for Emerging Athletes & Coaches

The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC), acting as the Tonga Commonwealth Games Association, was proud to help host an intensive 3-day GAPS training programme at its facilities this week.
The GAPS (GATHER - ADJUST - PREPARE - SUSTAIN) programme is a vital Commonwealth Sport initiative designed to empower emerging athletes and coaches by providing access to essential skills, knowledge, and resources. The focus is specifically on advancing coach education, removing barriers to participation, and supporting the development of inclusive sport pathways for women, girls, and Para athletes.

Hosting the training at our local facilities underscores TASANOC’s commitment to growing high-performance and inclusive sport in Tonga. The participants engaged in tailored sessions, leaving with the tools needed to drive positive social change through sport in their communities.
TASANOC extends its deepest thanks to all the participants and the Commonwealth Sport partners for a successful and inspiring collaboration. The skills learned here will directly contribute to Tonga’s preparation for upcoming international competitions.
