TASANOC Opens New Outdoor Fitness & Play Area for the Community

TASANOC is proud to announce the official opening of its new Outdoor Fitness & Play Area at its headquarters in Nuku‘alofa — a welcoming and inclusive space that is free and open to the public.
This milestone project was made possible through the generous support of the New Zealand High Commission Fund 2025/2026. A Blessing Ceremony was held to mark the occasion, attended by His Excellency Brody Sinclair, New Zealand High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Tonga, representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Australian Volunteers Program, the TASANOC Board, and the Tonga National Taekwondo Association.
Throughout the ceremony, speakers highlighted a shared vision: creating safe, accessible, and inclusive environments for athletes of all abilities. The new facility features outdoor fitness equipment including parallel bars and monkey bars, improved drainage to ensure year-round usability, and accessible ramps that allow ease of movement throughout the compound.
In his remarks, His Excellency Brody Sinclair, a strong supporter of sport, reaffirmed New Zealand’s commitment to supporting initiatives like this and encouraged TASANOC to continue reaching out for future assistance.

A standout moment of the event was a dynamic taekwondo demonstration by young athletes from the Tonga National Taekwondo Association. Training regularly at TASANOC, these athletes represent the very heart of the initiative — empowering youth through sport in a safe and supportive environment.
This development marks another step forward in TASANOC’s ongoing efforts to enhance its facilities. Future plans include the addition of an accessible toilet and further building renovations, ensuring the “Home of Sports” is well-prepared to welcome the Pacific for the 2031 Pacific Games.
The community is warmly invited to visit and make use of the new Outdoor Fitness & Play Area — a space built for everyone to move, connect, and thrive.
