TASANOC continues its strong commitment to anti-doping and safeguarding education to ensure all Tongan athletes compete clean, safe and respected.

TASANOC’s recent education initiatives, supported by the Oceania Regional Anti-DopingOrganisation (ORADO) and World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) are part of a wider strategy to protect athletes, promote fairness, and uphold the highest standards of integrity in sport.

In September, TASANOC representatives including President Michael Bloomfield, joined regional partners at the International Convention Against Doping in Sport, held in Brisbane. The convention brought together anti-doping experts, national Olympic committees, and sports administrators from across Oceania to strengthen clean sport education.

TASANOC also recently delivered anti-doping and safeguarding workshops for representatives of the Tonga Athletics Association ahead of the Oceania Athletics World Cup, which takes place in Tonga next week. Another workshop was held for junior members of the Tonga National Taekwondo Federation.

TASANOC Secretary General and CEO Mrs Netina Latu Vea said TASANOC wanted every Tongan athleteto compete with pride, knowing they are clean, respected, and protected.

“Anti-doping education supports the integrity of our athletes and our nation’s reputation, while safeguarding training ensures sport remains a safe and empowering space for everyone — especially women and our youth,” she said.

TASANOC conducts several anti-doping and safeguarding education activities for athletes and officials each year, with training coordinated by its Education Officer Mr Tapana Asau, in partnership with ORADO.

These programs reinforce TASANOC’s ongoing commitment to fostering clean, fair, and inclusive sport, ensuring that every Tongan athlete competes with integrity and pride under the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect.
