Tonga Congratulates India on Hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Amdavad

TASANOC congratulates the Commonwealth Sport Movement and India on the confirmation of Amdavad as host of the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. This marks a historic milestone as the world’s most populous nation prepares to celebrate 100 years of the Games with a vibrant and ambitious vision.

The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) extends its warm congratulations to the Commonwealth Sport Movement and the Commonwealth Games Association of India following the official confirmation of Amdavad, India, as host of the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games.

During the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly held today in Glasgow, delegates from 74 member nations and territories endorsed the Executive Board’s recommendation, marking a historic moment as the Games return to India for a landmark celebration of 100 years since the first edition held in 1930.

The announcement was met with a vibrant cultural performance, featuring Garba dancers and Indian dhol drummers, symbolising the rich heritage and energy that Amdavad is preparing to bring to the global stage.

Commonwealth Sport also unveiled an initial list of sports for the 2030 Games, including Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Bowls, Weightlifting, Artistic Gymnastics, Netball, and Boxing, with additional sports to be finalised next year.

TASANOC President and executive members expressed their support for the vision of Amdavad 2030 and acknowledged the continued commitment of the Commonwealth Sport Movement to staging Games that unite Athletes, cultures, and communities across the Commonwealth.

TASANOC looks forward to the opportunities the 2030 Centenary Games will bring for Tonga’s Athletes and remains committed to preparing strong and competitive teams for future Commonwealth competitions.
