Tonga National Anti-Doping Programme

The Tonga National Anti-Doping Programme is positioned within TASANOC. It is treated as Tonga’s National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) in the interim period before the NADO strengthens itself and moves on to become an independent organisation in Tonga.

Following through with guidance on activities and approaches from the Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (ORADO), the Tonga Anti-Doping Programme which sits within TASANOC was focused on testing, specifically on sample collection and the training of Doping Control Officers (DCOs). There was also engagement in workshops and information sharing among sporting federations and in the general sporting community in Tonga. In 2025, TASANOC began a program to roll out Anti-Doping workshops across high schools in Tongatapu in preparation for Tonga’s annual intercollegiate sports competition to promote integrity ¬¬in sport.

In line with ORADO’s new strategic move, the Tonga Anti-Doping Programme will realign itself to spend the next quadrennial 2025 - 2028 on building a stronger relationship with Government, create strategic communications activities to inform and educate communities on clean sport, and strengthen athletes and communities understanding on clean sport and the values that underpin integrity in sport.

The overall work of these new approaches will assist Tonga sports to participate in more competitions as both out-of-competition and in-competition testing services and products can be developed and provided in conjunction with both ORADO and the TASANOC Medical and Anti-Doping Commission
